    Dieu Dieu

Old friends, old songs and a lifetime of stories.

Dieu Dieu started, as these things so often do, with a few old friends getting together.

Some of the band members had known each other years ago, back when summers seemed endless and twenty years felt like a lifetime away.

Then life happened. People moved away. They found jobs, got married, had children, got divorced, bought houses, changed direction, and somewhere along the way, they lost touch.

Years passed, until one day, one of them reached out with a few songs.

They got together and when they played something happened.

    The songs came alive.

Not polished, not perfect, but alive.

Somewhere along the way, they stopped thinking about how many years had passed or how long they had been apart.

    They became a band.

The band isn't trying to recreate the past. They aren't pretending they're twenty anymore.

They're simply making the music they love, with people they love making it with.

Older, a little wiser, and probably a little louder.

And with a whole lot of stories left to tell.

    Project details

In the summer of 2026, Dieu Dieu got together to make an album.

Not because they expected anyone to hear it, that was never the point.

They’re old enough to know better, or at least to know that making music together is reason enough in itself.

It began when one of them reached out with a few songs.

Before long, the idea of playing together became impossible to ignore.

Soon, guitars and basses were out, drums were waiting to be played, a Fender Rhodes hummed quietly in the corner and old keyboards stood alongside a Yamaha Electric Grand, ready to add something unexpected to the mix.

Amps warmed up, cables were plugged in, drums were tuned, keys were tested and slowly, piece by piece, and something beautyfull started to happen.

What emerged was a warm, sometimes gritty blend of blues, country and rock & roll, rooted in the music they grew up with and shaped by everything life had thrown their way since.

Electric guitars danced around the bass, the drums settled into the groove and the Rhodes brought its unmistakable warmth and soul.

The keyboards and the Electric Grand added colour, depth and atmosphere, moving between bright, shimmering melodies and darker, more spacious sounds.

    Old influences met new stories.

Songs about love, leaving, coming home, mistakes, memories, heartbreak, hope and all the messy, beautiful things in between.

There was plenty of laughter, plenty of discussion, and the occasional debate over whether a song needed another guitar, another piano, a different groove, or simply the courage to leave things alone.

And they played, for hours, for days.

Somewhere along the way, the years fell away.

Because that’s the strange thing about music, you can put an instrument down for twenty years, but when you pick it up again, some part of you remembers exactly where you left off.

‘Early Days’ is the result of those summer days filled with music, laughter, old friendships and the simple pleasure of making something together.

    No grand plan, no expectations.

Just a few old friends, a room full of instruments and songs that wanted to be played.

Not polished, not perfect, but alive.
